Industry seeing what Alliance has known

Elite Ladies of The AllianceMembers of The Alliance know that women are more than welcome in our company, and we celebrate their successes via the Elite Ladies of The Alliance for those who produce more than $100,000 annually. In fact, many of our top producers are female agents who are consistently recognized on stage at our national events because they are among our top leaders.

We have always believed in offering a level playing field for any person who wants to be successful. Now, many women in the industry believe this trend is finally happening across the board.

A recent study released from a poll by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation found that almost 75 percent of female agents attending the IICF Women in Insurance Global Conference in New York in June think the industry is on the road to reaching gender equality. The poll included a sample of more than 300 women at the conference.

The survey found that 72 percent of women occupying leadership in insurance roles believe the field is “making progress” in regards to gender equality. The study also had 68 percent of the women polled, stating that their organization is working to promote gender diversity.

Other findings from the poll included the following:

When asked about the greatest challenge women face in ascending to leadership, 39 percent of responses pointed to limited opportunities for upward mobility within their company.

Another 30 percent of respondents said the greatest challenge is women not promoting themselves effectively.

37 percent believe that the industry’s biggest improvement toward gender diversity is seen through shifts in corporate culture.

The benefit for networking opportunities was seen as the most important step toward gender equality by 24 percent of the women polled, up from 9 percent in 2014.

The best news for women in The Alliance is that there are no limits with our company. The bar is as high as you want to set it. We’re proud that we’ve been ahead of the industry in terms of advancement opportunities for all people, and we are glad to see the trend is catching on industry wide.


What’s Happening at The Alliance’s NatCon15?

The Alliance’s 2015 National Convention is less than three weeks away and excitement is in the air. The Convention will take place from January 22 – 25 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Many people are thinking about New Year’s resolutions, but we have the same goals each year: Think bigger and do better than the year before. NatCon15 is huge part of kicking off the New Year right, so our staff members are doing all they can to make this event even better than the rest.

Our speakers are top agents and experts in various aspects of the business, so you’ll come home with plenty of knowledge and training. Our keynote speaker, Bishop Trevor Manhanga has helped mediate and create peace during some of the most turbulent times in Zimbabwe. He has overcome great obstacles to spread the gospel, bring peace to troubled areas of Africa, spread awareness of AIDs and HIV and fight for human rights and democracy. Andy Albright decided to bring Bishop Trevor into the U.S. all the way from Africa so that he could speak to members of The Alliance on how to overcome difficulties in life to grow and succeed.

And if you’re interested in learning more about a specific topic, like Lead Tips and Tricks, Leadership Team Building or even How to be a Better Spouse, you can sign up for breakout sessions! Millennials Need Life Insurance Too!

Many insurance agents are overlooking or even dismissing the potential of a major client market based on the fact that this demographic was born between 1978 and 1995.

Research shows that agents feel like this group is too young and are in too much debt to even begin talking about life insurance.

Reality, however, is much different.

Millennials are making more than most people realize and they are doing a pretty good job of socking money away. But, most millennials are not even considering life insurance, which means they are not properly covered.

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, so why not reach out to this group to increase your client base? The industry has long ignored millennials and this is the perfect time for you, as an agent, to change that. This group is the future of the industry and there’s no better time than now to address their needs.

Consider the following …

Millennials are poised for more financial success in the future. They are financial savvy and they are building relationships with people in that area. They might be less likely to be married or have children, but many are heading in that direction. A large portion of millennials are making $100,000 annually and many of them save at least 20 percent of that income.

Offering them an even stronger financial plan is a great opportunity to feed their desire to be financially solid down the road and you can build a relationship that can span decades to come. You can teach them how life insurance provides protection and can also provide cash value.

Many millennials are poised to experience life events in the next month or year. Marriage, a new child or a new home are all coming down the pike for this group. This means they have a HUGE need for protection even if they don’t realize it yet. The best time to take care of this is now, while they are still very healthy and very young.

Another characteristic of millennials is that they tend to plan things out. With that said, why wouldn’t they plan for their family’s well-being should something happen to them? Many of them have coverage through work but it’s not enough. They lack the proper coverage and need to be educated about what is available to them. Your job is to show them they are not properly covered and help them be prepared.

Alliance Leadership Conference in July 2014

In just a few weeks agents will be flocking to The Alliance Headquarters in Burlington, NC for the annual Leadership Conference (LeadCon). How Do You Achieve Success? Just Ask!

What if Andy never asked Fitz to join the Alliance? What if no one ever asked you to join The Alliance?

Many people miss out on opportunities for success simply because they were afraid to ask someone a simple question. You’ve probably thought about asking your neighbor if they needed life insurance or if they need a job, but never asked because you were afraid they wouldn’t be interested. You can’t succeed if you don’t ask! Below are some questions you can ask to help others and become more successful.Don't be afraid to ask questions

Ask friends, family, and acquaintances
Whether you’re in a conversation with a good friend, your sister-in-law, or someone you just met, you can always slip a question into any conversation. Have you ever thought about life insurance? Do you have a retirement plan at work? Have you ever thought about trying a different career? Of course, you won’t ask all of those questions at once, but you if you politely slip them into your conversations you can show the other person that you care about them and their future. There’s always a chance that they could use your help or advice. If not, they might come to you if they think of someone else you could help.

Ask your manager
Some people feel like they’re bothering their manager if they ask questions, but that’s what your manager is there for – to help you succeed! Don’t be afraid to ask questions. How am I doing? What could I do to improve in this area? Do you have any advice about this? Your manager should be more than willing to answer your questions, or point you in a direction of someone else who can help you. If you find that your manager is unwilling to respond to you, don’t take that as a sign to stop asking – you need those answers! Ask other agents or our staff at headquarters where you can find answers to all of your questions.

Ask your team
Just as you are sometimes afraid to ask questions, your teammates might have the same fear. If you haven’t heard from some of your teammates in a while, don’t be afraid to make a quick phone call or email to ask how they’re doing or if there is anything you can do to help them. If they see that you’re willing to help them out, they’ll be happier to work with you and more likely to help you out when you need it.

By asking questions of others you can build relationships, help others, make more sales, build up your team and achieve the success you’ve always wanted. Don’t miss out on an opportunity just because you’re afraid to ask one little question. The answer you get may change your life and theirs!

Make the Most of Your Alliance Leads

Here at National Agents Alliance, we strive to provide quality leads to help you get more families covered and more money in your bank account. Our leads are customers who are currently seeking life insurance or have contacted us for services in the past. Our speed leads even go through a Fraud Checker system to ensure that you’re getting the best quality leads. Even though we do our best to give you perfect leads, people sometimes make mistakes when writing in their information, they may get new phone numbers or addresses, and some may even change their name.

If you find yourself with a lead that has a disconnected phone number or an address that doesn’t seem correct, try using the following tips to locate the correct address or phone number.

  1. Check www.whitepages.com. White Pages allows you to look up information by phone number, address, or by name. If you can find the person on the lead, you may be able to find a second phone number for them or a second address.
  2. Try www.spokeo.com. With Spokeo, you can search for a person by name, email, phone, or address.
  3. Search on social media. Plug in the person’s email address into Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter. You may be able to find more information that way.
  4. Knock on their door. If you have an address for the person without a valid phone number, you can always knock on their door and ask if they’re still interested in life insurance.

If none of those steps help you find the customer, you can contact the Lead Performance Team for support. Just remember that each lead is a valuable customer that needs help protecting their family. It’s worth a few extra steps to get that person covered, and possibly coverage for their friends and family.

Do you know what the Alliance books of the month are?

Success! The Glenn Bland MethodPresident and CEO of the National Agents Alliance, Andy Albright released on The Wednesday Call that the books of the month for October are “The Retirement Miracle” by Patrick Kelly and “Success! The Glenn Bland Method.”

Andy chooses one or two books each month for the National Agents Alliance staff and agents to read. He insists that these books will help you grow and improve in your business and personal life.
